MULTAN: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) claimed on Monday to have killed two members of a banned outfit in an ‘encounter’ at Jalalpur Pirwala and seized arms and explosives from their hideout.

A CTD spokesperson said the department received information about the presence of [suspected] terrorist Ijaz Asghar and his five accomplices at Chak No83/M.

He said a team raided the hideout and the suspects fired on the personnel. During a ‘shootout’, two suspects, including Ijaz Asghar, were killed while four others managed their escape. He claimed that the suspects belonged to Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) .

The CTD claimed to have recovered weapons, grenades and explosives from the possession of the deceased.

ACE RAID: An Anti-Corruption Establishment team on Monday caught red-handed a Cantt police sub-inspector while receiving bribe from a complainant.

According to a handout, a raid was conducted by Circle Officer Athar Mehmood and Constable Abid Bukhari under the supervision of Civil Judge Muhammad Haris.

It said SI Aminullah was arrested while receiving Rs5,000 from Karim Nawaz. An FIR was lodged by the ACE under section 161 of PPC and 5(2)47 of Prevention of Corruption Act.
