PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has ordered award of the first and second packages of the Bus Rapid Transit Peshawar (BRT) to the contractors who qualified the bidding process in order to start construction of the all-time mega project of the province at the earliest.

While presiding over a high-level meeting which held to review the pace of work on the project at Chief Minister Secretariat here on Wednesday, he also directed the officers concerned to finalise all the matters related to the bus project.

He said his government could not afford any delay in execution of the project.

Mr Khattak said the BRT was the most important project for the capital city, so the project would have to be completed with accelerated speed. This project, he added was one solution to all traffic problems in Peshawar city.

Provincial minister Mohammad Atif Khan, acting chief secretary Azam Khan, Strategic Support Unit chief Sahibzada Saeed, commissioner Peshawar and high ranking officials of transport department, PDA, district administration and Asian Development Bank attended the meeting.
