PESHAWAR: The Election Commission of Pakistan has issued the schedule for the by-election on NA-4, Peshawar-IV constituency where the polling will be held on Oct 26, 2017.

The seat had fallen vacant due to death of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf MNA Gulzar Khan, who belonged to Mashogagar village in the suburbs of the capital city. He passed away on Aug 27.

According to the schedule issued here on Friday, the candidates will start submitting nomination papers with the returning officer from Sept 18, while the scrutiny of the nomination papers would be held from Sept 21.

The last date for filling of appeals against the decisions of the returning officer is Sept 27. Last date for decision on appeals by the appellate tribunal is Oct 2, 2017.

The last date for withdrawal of candidature is Oct 3, while revised list of candidates will be published on Oct 4. Polling will be held on Oct 26.

The election commission has appointed Mohammad Naeem, regional election commissioner, Bannu, as the district returning officer, Mohammad Ishaq Khan, agency election commissioner of Bajaur, as the returning officer. Qaisar Kundi, additional assistant commissioner-I Peshawar, and Irfan Ali, sub-divisional education officer Peshawar, would work as assistant returning officers during the process of by-election on the NA-4 constituency.
