Gunmen abduct 17 youth from Landi Kotal

LANDI KOTAL: Unidentified gunmen abducted at least 17 young tribesmen from a picnic spot in Landi Kotal on Sunday.

Khasadar officials while confirming the incident said that some local youth from Adalkhad and Gagra villages had gone to Yakha Cheena, Enzaro Naw picnic spot close to the Afghan border early on Sunday morning but did not return to their homes till late in the evening.

The officials said that relatives of the missing youth reported the matter to them after one of the abducted persons managed to escape from the abductors and reached home early on Monday.

They quoted the escaped person as saying that a group of around 12 armed men held them hostage while they were having midday meals. Later, they were taken to an unknown place.

The officials said that they had started a search operation to locate and recover the missing men, while expressing apprehension that they might be taken across the border.

Lots of mafias operating all over Pakistan in search of people for ransom after kidnapping,even city like Karachi is no exception, some groups have their safe places in rural Sindh far flung areas,to keep abductees, and later they finalize the ransoms. The Federal Interior Ministry as well as Privincial Interior Ministries must act in unison to eliminate such menaces, swiftly. The confidence and trust of foreign tourists, visitors, as well as domestic picnickers must be restored for tourism department revenue, and Pak must also take note of travel advisories in place by several western nations, which resulting in less tourists day by day, and even business meetings are taking place in Dubai due to adverse travel advisories.

This sad new ends with the line "expressing apprehension that they might be taken across the border. Will the officials care to explain how, not one but seventeen, young men were taken across the border since the our security forces have extensively fenced that region. Did they take them through the Torkham check point or did they fly over the border, or shoved them through a tunnel to the other side of the border.
