TAXILA: As many as 50 assistant education officers (AEOs) have been inducted in district Attock with a view to streamlining the education system in the district and assisting the provincial government in achieving the sustainable development goals in education sector.

Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmad distributed appointment letters and tablet computers among the newly inducted AEOs at a function held at Govt Pilot Secondary School Attock on Friday.

Addressing on the occasion, the minister said more than 1,500 AEOs had been inducted across Punjab.

He was of the view that development work in the field of education including filling of the vacant teachers’ posts, provision of missing facilities in schools as well as free and compulsory education under the 18th constitutional amendment speaks volumes about the government’s commitment to achieving universal primary education goal.

He expressed the hope that the goal of 100pc enrollment in Punjab would be achieved by 2018.

He was of the view that present government was allocating budgetary resources according to requirements of various districts.

He said the government had also introduced digital monitoring system to ensure transparency in the education system with the IT based gadgets therefore every official had been provided tabs.

The minister expressed the hope that these AEOs would bring a positive change in education sector.

He said thousand of highly qualified teachers had been inducted in all the districts of Punjab and for the first time in the history of Pakistan 71,000 teachers had been imparted professional training.

Giving a brief about different projects in education sector in Attock district, the minister said an agriculture university campus had been established and medical college had been approved. Besides, postgraduate classes in different subjects in Govt Boys Degree College Attock have also been started. Now the students from poor families are seeking higher education at their door step, he added.
