Turn down the volume

This is with reference to the cover story “Turn down the volume” by Kashif Hafeez (YW, August 26). The article was nice and I agree with the writer as these days, noise pollution has increased and can affect everyone’s hearing. People who use headphones or ear buds and listen to music on high volume, are likely to experience hearing problems in their life, eventually. It is better to always listen to music on low volume.

What is patriotism?

This is with reference to the article “What is patriotism?” by Maleeha Faisal Siddiqui (YW, August12).

I loved reading the article as it expressed some bitter truths about our nation, truths which we don’t want to see and accept. We think we are loyal to our country but in reality we are only showing off and doing nothing meaningful for it. We can ask ourselves the questions the writer raised in the article and see how true we are to our nation.

I am impressed with the views of Maleeha Faisal Siddiqui in her article “What is patriotism?”.

It is true that we grow up listening to our elders telling us to love our country. And yes, we do too. But if you look inside your heart and think for just a few seconds what it really is like to love your country, you will be shocked to see there is nothing or hardly anything, which you or anyone else is doing that proves our love.

The questions asked by the writer literally made me accept that we are not loyal at all. And I think this article should be read by all youngsters as well as older people to think and then change the way they are living!

Wonder crafts

This is regarding the “Corner bookmarks” in Wonder crafts by Asif Ali (YW, August 5). The bookmarks were easy and looked very nice.

I tried making some for myself and luckily, I also made some perfect and cute bookmarks for all my books. I appreciate the writer for sharing how to make wonderful crafts for kids.

Spreading smiles

This is with reference to the story “Spreading smiles” by Mohammad Bakhtiyar (YW, August 12).

I appreciate the writer for beautifully expressing his views in the story “Spreading smiles”. Independence Day should be celebrated with everyone, especially those who cannot afford to buy things which we easily can. By celebrating with them, we can give us real happiness.
