MARDAN: At least four patients were confirmed as dengue positive by relevant officials at the Mardan Medical Complex here on Monday.

We have received four patients affected by dengue virus belonging to different parts of Mardan and Swabi districts, said Dr Javed Iqbal.

He said the patients were identified as Habibullah of Garikapoora area, Sunba of Takhtbai locality, Liaba of Guli Bagh and Shagufta hailing from Swabi.

He claimed they had vacated the Medical-B ward of the hospital and reserved it only for patients affected by dengue. Initially, he said they had set up 10 beds for dengue patients in the ward and that the number would be increased if more patients were taken to the health facility.

Dr Iqbal said the hospital had taken all necessary steps keeping in view the sensitivity of the issue. He, however, said the condition of admitted dengue patients was out of danger after they had been provided all necessary treatment.
