KARACHI: Five people died in rain-related incidents in Karachi on Monday night.

Moderate to heavy rain lashed different parts of the metropolis on Monday afternoon and night, which gave respite to citizens from the hot weather, but it also brought miseries, especially in low-lying areas where rainwater accumulated and power supply was suspended.

Rescue officials said two teenagers were among the five people electrocuted in different parts of the city.

According to Chhipa rescue service, 18-year-old Bisma died while her sister, Iqra, 16, and their mother, Qazu Bibi, injured when they got an electric shock in their home in the Old Golimar area.

Rameez, 18, died from electrocution on a street in Rizvia Society.

Maaz, 46, was electrocuted in New Karachi’s Khamiso Goth.

An Edhi Foundation spokesperson said that two men were electrocuted at Qadri Chowk in the Garden area. The names of the deceased could not be ascertained immediately.
