QUETTA: Some 12 members of the Balochistan Assembly will join the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) after Eidul Azha, claims provincial chief of the party Ali Madad Jattak.

Meanwhile, two tribal and political leaders in the province — Malik Munir Shahwani and Malik Abdul Karim Shahwani — announced joining the PPP on the occasion.

Addressing a press conference on Monday, Mr Jattak claimed that the MPAs would announce their decision of joining the PPP in the presence of party chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari.

Regarding the general elections in 2018, Mr Jattak expressed optimism that the PPP would emerge victorious not only in Balochistan but in all the four provinces.

The PPP leader said that deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif wanted to make amendments in the Constitution to protect himself and not to strengthen democracy.

“The PPP will not accept such a situation and will not enter into negotiation with the PML-N on the issue of Article 62 under which Mr Sharif has been disqualified by the Supreme Court,” he said.
