KARACHI: A boy was killed and four other people, including a girl, were injured in an explosion that took place near the house of an imprisoned ringleader of the gang warfare in Lyari on Saturday night, police said.

The SHO of the Chakiwara police station, Agha Mashooq Ali, said that men on a motorbike threw a cracker that landed near the home of Uzair Baloch in the Singulane area of Lyari. As a result, five people suffered injuries who were moved to the Civil Hospital, Karachi, for treatment.

However, doctors pronounced 10-year-old Ariyan dead, said Mr Ali. Of the injured persons the condition of a minor girl, Zehra, was critical.

Meanwhile, the Sindh’s home minister and the inspector general of police took notice of the incident and asked officials concerned to submit a detailed report on the matter as early as possible.
