KOHAT: MPA Ziaullah Bangash on Wednesday approved establishment of the first government girls high school in Chakarkot Bala union council and girls primary school in Ustarzai Bala.

In this regard, a jirga of elders of Chakarkot Bala was held which announced to give free land for the school buildings in the presence of the revenue officials. The MPA said that he would allocate money for the project from his own funds.

The elders, including Esar Ali Bangash, nazim Ishtiaq Ali, Malik Sibte Hassan and others who would provide land for both the schools, said that Chakarkot Bala had no high school for girls so far.

The people of Ustarzai Bala have also welcomed the approval of a girls primary school.

ACTION ORDERED: The district police officer on Wednesday ordered the arrest of mechanics making changes to motorcycles used for one wheeling, following detention of 90 motorcyclists.

A police statement said that the mechanics changed the wheel gears, cut the mudguards and also modified the engine for strong pickup. Most of the arrested accused were presented before the court and sent to prison while others were fined.

Meanwhile, the counter-terrorism department (CTD) on Wednesday arrested two alleged extortionists for taking Rs500,000 bhatta from a businessman two months ago.

In a raid, the CTD captured Bashir Ahmed and Yousuf of the alleged gang whose five members had already been held from Peshawar. They were shifted to an unknown location for further interrogation.

TEACHERS PROMOTED: District education officer Haziqur Rehman promoted and transferred 218 teachers in different cadres, according to a notification issued here on Wednesday.

The DEO ordered promotion and transfer of 125 primary school teachers to certified school teachers, 33 to senior subject teachers and 60 senior subject teachers to the upper grade. The transferred teachers also include those who had been serving at one place for several years.

All Teachers Coordination Council president Maqsood Ahmed has welcomed the promotion of teachers.
