KARAK: The residents of various localities of Karak district on Monday threatened to take to the streets if the power supply, which remains suspended for last two days, was not restored by Tuesday morning.

The decision was made at a joint meeting of local welfare bodies — Karak Welfare Organisation, Chountra Welfare Organisation and Changhoz Welfare Society — held here.

The participants said that the power supply had been suspended to Ghundi Mir Khankhel, SaratKhel, Isak Chountra, Sangani and various adjoining localities for the last two days.

They added that the people were facing shortage of drinking water and the women were forced to fetch water from far off areas.

They pointed out that the Pesco suspended the power supply to the localities after rain lashed the region two days ago.

They said the people were also facing more than 18 hours’ of daily loadshedding in the hot and humid weather.

The social activists said that power supply should be restored to the localities with immediate effect otherwise they would take to the roads to hold protest against the Pesco for its inability to make sure the smooth electricity supply.
