BADIN: As many as 35 activists associated with the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz announced on Friday quitting nationalist politics for good and parting ways with the party in the wake of a silent drive of ‘enforced disappearances’ launched by law-enforcement agencies across the province.

The now former members of JSQM Javed Ahmed Memon, Mumtaz Ali Zaur, Mohammad Ali Khaskheli, Ghulam Akbar, Babu Brohi and others said at press conferences in Badin, Matli and Golarchi towns that having grown fed up with nationalistic politics they now wanted to devote their energies to the betterment of Pakistan and contribute positively to society.

They confessed that they had not made any service to people of the district during their political career and advised other youths like them to quit politics of separatism, which they said, was an illusion under current situation.

They criticised the separatist groups struggling for the creation of Sindhudesh, and observed that opportunist leaders were exploiting people, especially students in colleges and universities, in the name of such ideals.

They appealed to people of Sindh to stop believing in nationalist leaders, who were only busy in safeguarding their own petty interests.

Earlier, senior nationalist leader and close aide to late G.M. Syed, Ustad Mohammad Rahimoon, had announced forsaking nationalistic politics in a similar fashion at a press conference in Golarchi town soon after returning from three-month ‘disappearance’.

He was whisked way apparently by personnel of LEAs in a predawn raid on his house in Kario Ghanwar town of Badin district on Nov 23, 2016.

Mr Rahimoon, who was a convener of banned Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz and commanded great respect among all factions of Jeay Sindh movement, had observed at the press conference that it was difficult to carry on nationalistic politics in the obtaining conditions.
