SARGODHA, Aug 13: Only two candidates filed their nomination papers for by-polls of the Naib Nazim till the filing of this story here on Wednesday.

Hamid Saleem Warraich (PML-Q), reported to be a cousin of Tariq Aziz Warraich, the principal secretary to President Pervez Musharraf, filed his papers with the support of PML (QA). The Jamaat-i-Islami also announced its support to the government sponsored candidate.

Rao Abdus Sami, Phularwan UC No 3 Nazim, filed his nomination papers as an independent candidate. The contest between the two candidates would be a one-sided affair if no other candidate filed papers.

Hamid Saleem Warraich is enjoying the support of District Nazim Amjad Ali Noon and Tehsil Nazims of all the five tehsils of Sargodha district besides other groups.

The by-elections are likely to be held on Sept 8 and Wednesday was the last date for filing the nomination papers.
