LAHORE: The Department of Theriogenology of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) organised a one-day training workshop on ‘precision dairy farming’ at the Ravi Campus here on Tuesday.

Dean Faculty of Animal Production and Technology Prof Dr Anjum Khalique chaired the workshop and emphasised the importance of the precision dairy farming in commercial farming.

Some 20 commercial farmers, farm managers, faculty and postgraduate students attended the workshop.

Workshop organiser Dr Ali Husnain said: “Precision dairy farming involves the use of modern technologies to measure physiological, behavioural and production indicators on individual animals”.

Department of Theriogenology Chairman Dr Amjad Riaz, Usman Nazir, Dr Melad Ahmad and Dr Faria also spoke.

LUMS: The 15-day coaching session of the National Outreach Programme (NOP) concluded at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS).

The coaching session 2017 was organised for some 621 shortlisted applicants. Student-faculty interactions, presentations, personal grooming and critical thinking sessions, music, drama and talks were also part of the sessions.

UET: The Industrial Open House 2017 was held at the University of Engineering and Technology’s Narowal campus to provide an opportunity to the students to showcase their skills and knowledge.

Vice Chancellor Dr Fazal Ahmad Khalid was the chief guest of the event. Different students’ projects were exhibited in the event.

PITB: The eLearn.Punjab, a joint project of the School Education Department and Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), has become a role model for the whole national education sector, says Information Technology University Vice Chancellor Dr Umar Saif.

During a review meeting of the project on Tuesday, he said the PITB had undertaken eLearn to execute e-learning solutions in 47,856 public school across the province.

The meeting was informed the PCTB textbooks from grades 6 to 10 had been digitalised with 1,830 animations, 592 simulations, 13,047 topic-based videos under the supervision of experienced instructors, 2,000 minutes audio and about 9m trendy interactive hits.

LLB: The LLB examinations 2017 of the Punjab University began here.

Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zafar Mueen Nasir visited LLB examination centres at Wahdat and Lawrence roads. Controller of Examinations Prof Dr Shahid Munir, additional controllers Shahid Javed and Rauf Nawaz were also present.

The VC reviewed arrangements made to facilitate candidates appearing in LLB examinations.
