RAWALPINDI: The long-awaited press conference by Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan reverberated on the streets of the garrison city – his constituency – on Wednesday, with residents giving mixed reactions to the senior PML-N leader’s threat to quit politics in the wake of a decision in the Panama Papers case.

While there was confusion over whether the minister would follow through with his threat, some people thought that he should leave his ministry, while others were of the view that he chosen the right time to set the party right.

Mohammad Javed, a resident of Chaklala Scheme-III, said that Chaudhry Nisar was known for speaking the truth and people believed in him, since he had presented the true picture of party affairs.

He said that people liked Chaudhry Nisar in the area, despite his anti-social habits, because he addressed the problems of voters in his constituency.

Abdul Rasheed, a resident of Dhoke Chaudhrian, opined that Chaudhry Nisar should leave the ministr, since he could win the next general elections even without help of a party.

On the other hand, Akram Raja from College Road said that the minister should remain loyal to the party in this difficult time, adding that the press conference had only created more problems for the party in its hour of need.
