KARACHI: The Sindh government is setting up a first of its kind shelter home in Mirpurkhas for women in distress belonging to minorities, said a statement issued on Thursday.
“The minorities’ shelter home will start functioning by the end of this fiscal year where women will get residence, food and other facilities including legal assistance in their cases,” said a statement issued by the Sindh information department quoting Dr Khatumal Jeewan, special assistant to Sindh chief minister.
“Vocational education and formal education will also be provided in the shelter home so that the skilled women may play a positive role in the progress of society,” he said.
Dr Khatumal said that the shelter home would be operational by June 2018 equipped with all required facilities and would help resolve several issues like family feuds and forced marriages.
