LAHORE: Opposition leader in Punjab Assembly Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed has said that not the prime minister but the nation is losing patience and added that Nawaz Sharif’s obstinacy would cost him dearly.

Speaking to a lawyers’ delegation here on Thursday, Mr Rasheed said the Supreme Court and the nation as a whole would get the apex court decision implemented, if it decided against the prime minister.

Commenting on prime minister’s statement regarding allegations, he said the Supreme Court had made it clear that what allegations were against the prime minister. He said the prime minister would also face cases of fraud and forgery.

He said the JIT report had also unearthed many other crimes committed by the Sharif family and added that Nawaz would not only be disqualified but [would] also go to jail.

He warned the Sharif brothers should not even think of hatching conspiracies against the judiciary or democracy as the nation would not let them become “political martyrs”.

ADJOURNMENT MOTION: PTI MPA Shoaib Siddiqui on Thursday submitted an adjournment motion to the Punjab Assembly against the non-functioning of the Punjab Institute of Quran and Seerat Studies despite the passage of four years. The institute was constructed at a cost of Rs550 million.

In his motion, Mr Siddiqui said the institute organisers could not open an account and the government funds lapsed. He said the principal and staff had yet not been appointed in the institute.
