Qatar's FM calls on Nawaz to discuss Gulf diplomatic crisis

Foreign Minister of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, on Tuesday, called on Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad to discuss the current diplomatic crisis in the Gulf region.

According to a statement issued by Prime Minister Office, during the meeting, Sheikh Mohammed briefed the prime minister on Qatar’s response to the demands made by Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain, and Egypt and on the current status of the mediation efforts of the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

The prime minister appreciated the efforts Emir of Kuwait and said that Pakistan supports his sincere efforts in finding a solution to the current crisis, read the statement.

“Pakistan maintains close, friendly and cooperative relations with all Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and is concerned at the recent crisis in the Middle East,” Nawaz was quoted as saying.

The people and government wish to see a diplomatic solution to the problem between brotherly Islamic countries, the note added.

The foreign minister of Qatar was said to have expressed his gratitude to the prime minister for the warm reception and reiterated Qatar’s desire to further enhance bilateral relations between the two countries.
