LAHORE: More than 43,000 candidates appeared in the University of Engineering and Technology Lahore’s combined entrance test for seeking admission to different engineering varsities in Punjab here on Sunday.
The test was held simultaneously in 14 test centres - Lahore, Kala Shah Kaku, Taxila, Islamabad, Rasul, Multan, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, Gujrat, Mianwali, Rahim Yar Khan and Sahiwal. The result of entrance test will be declared on July 23.
Speaking to reporters, UET Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Ahmad Fazal Khalid said: “Merit, secrecy and transparency have been ensured at the examination centres. Necessary arrangements for security of candidates have also been made”. He said considering requirements of CPEC project, thousands of engineers and skilled labor would be in high demand in near future. “Lucrative job opportunities are waiting for technological professionals”.
For proper carrer planning, the UET is organising a two-day “Open Day” event on July 27 and 28. “Open day will enable students to familiarise with the facilities available in different faculties of university. It will also help them choose proper engineering discipline favouring their aptitude,” the VC said.
