Vet hospital in disrepair

Published August 11, 2003

RAJANPUR, Aug 10: The building of the only veterinary hospital in Rajanpur district is in ruins due to the sheer negligence of the present and the previous governments.

Only a dispenser provides ‘treatment’ to sick animals while rest of the staff, including doctors, remained absent. One of the doctors and a dispenser are running their private clinic.

Thousands of animals die from various diseases every year for lack of proper medical facilities. Neither the livestock department nor any politician take interest to improve the situation.

The condition of the veterinary clinics in villages across the Rajanpur district is even more worse. The staff deployed there are drawing their salaries without performing any duty.

Social circles have urged the Punjab government and the department concerned to ensure the presence of the staff and the provision of medicines, besides repairing and renovating buildings of veterinary hospital and clinics.
