PESHAWAR, Aug 10: The additional district and sessions judge, Tariq Yousafzai, on Saturday summoned the SHO Nasirbagh police station and owner of a brick kiln in a habeas corpus petition.

The court fixed Aug 11 for next hearing and directed the police official and owner of the brick kiln to appear before it.

The detainee, Haroon Khan, was arrested by the police after his three relatives — a woman and her two children — were released from illegal custody of a brick kiln owner by the district and sessions judge on Aug 7.

Soon after they were released, the head of the family Abdul Wahab was summoned by officials of the concerned Mathani police station and was asked to pay the debt he had acquired from the brick kiln owner, Muwakil Shah.

He informed the police that he had not acquired any loan from him. However, he alleged that on continuous insistence of the police he shifted to Kacha Garhi area along with his entire family. He added that as the owner was an influential person, the SHO of Nasirbagh police station arrested his nephew, Haroon, asking them to repay the loan to the owner.

Earlier, Abdul Wahab had filed a petition, stating his wife and three children were in illegal detention of a brick kiln’s owner, Muwakil Shah. He stated that they used to work in the brick kiln and now the owner was not willing to liberate them.

On the directives of the sessions judge, the three detainees were produced before the court and they were released.
