LAHORE: Expecting a large number of visitors on Eidul Fitr, the Lahore Zoo administration has finalised its arrangements for public facilities and security. The major initiative is the shuttle service between Zoo and Safari.

Zoo is the most frequently visited place on festive occasions when a large number of children along with their families come for enjoyment.

The Lahore Zoo administration has plans to put on display different stalls including those for providing information to people about captive breeding of wildlife animals. New benches have been placed at different locations in the zoo and water chillers have been installed.

Lahore Zoo Deputy Director Tanveer Janjua told this reporter that a number of steps had been taken for comprehensive Eid arrangements. The major initiative is a free-of-cost shuttle service between Lahore Zoo and Safari. There will be four coasters plying between the two place for three days starting on the first day of Eid.

Walk-through gates will be installed at all the entrances, where public will be checked through metal detectors. The security arrangements also include CCTV cameras.

Lahore Zoo also has an effective communication system with the help of wireless sets. The management has also contacted the police department, Bomb Disposal Squad and Red Crescent to provide the zoo with manpower during Eid days. The summer arrangements for animals such as dumping ice blocks, providing shelter and generous water supply to cages are already in place.
