LAHORE, Aug 7: Rain in some parts of the city provided a temporary relief from humid weather on Thursday.

The maximum temperature was recorded at 36.6 degrees Celsius and the minimum at 29.5, with humidity at 73 per cent in the morning and 50 per cent in the evening.

According to a meteorological office forecast, weather will remain partly cloudy on Friday with chances of thunderstorm and light rain. More rainfall is expected in Sargodha, Faisalabad, DG Khan and Multan divisions and scattered showers in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala and Bahawalpur divisions.

Meanwhile, the Indus is in medium flood at Taunsa and low flood elsewhere. A monsoon low persists over the Bay of Bengal near the Orissa coast. There is also a seasonal low over southeastern Iran and the adjoining Balochistan. A weak monsoon incursion from the Arabian Sea is reaching Punjab upto 1.5km above the mean sea level.

The Met office also predicted isolated rainfall in the upper catchment areas of Jhelum and Chenab river.

Meanwhile, the water level in Tarbela Dam went up by another feet on Thursday and stood at 1542 feet — only eight feet below the optimum level. The water level in Mangla Lake was kept at 1201.40 feet by discharging the entire inflow of Jhelum.
