SANGHAR, Aug 7: The People’s Party Parliamentarians-backed Awam Dost Panel members of the Sanghar District Council at a session of the council held here on Thursday rejected the district relief committee, constituted under Sindh ministers.

Speaking on the occasion, the Shahdadpur UC Nazim suggested that the committees should be formed under district, taluka and union council Nazims.

The Awam Dost members alleged that Nazims and Naib Nazims of the ruling Faqir Dost panel did not help the rain-hit people during the recent rains. Instead, they remained at their homes.

They criticized government functionaries for making no efforts to drain out stagnant rain water, which had damaged roads and led to the collapse of drainage systems of many towns.

Badshah Khan said the education department had purchased computers at higher rates.

Raja Shahid said motorcycles which were provided to the police for patrolling were being used by civilians.

Faisal Wassan commented that the decision of the Swiss court against Benazir Bhutto and Asif Ali Zardari was politically motivated.

DISTRICT COUNCIL: The Sanghar District Council, in a resolution adopted on Wednesday, demanded that the district should be declared as a calamity-affected area.

The council also demanded that recovery of agricultural loans, land tax and Abyana should be postponed for three years.

Speaking at the session, Shahdadpur Union Council Nazim Faisal Wassan deplored that the government had provided no relief to rain victims of the district.

Jamal Din Arain said several dehs in Pretamabad were affected by rain but no survey was conducted to assess the losses.

Dr Sharif Baloch other members of the district council demanded that the Left Bank Outfall Drain should be cleaned.
