LAHORE: Cricketer Khalid Latif, an accused in the PSL spot-fixing scandal, has also refused to appear before the disciplinary tribunal of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Khalid has raised objection over eligibility of the head of the PCB-appointed Anti-corruption Tribunal head retired Justice Asghar Haider Rizvi.

Khalid’s lawyer Badar Alam said in a statement that he had also sent a copy of his reply to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, stating the spot-fixing case was not running with clarity.

Time had come to inform the premier about every development in the case, he said, adding Justice Asghar should have resigned from the post.

Badar said he had also informed the PCB about the reasons behind not appearing before the tribunal while rejecting the impression that his client was trying to escape from the case.

On the other hand, PCB lawyer Tafazzul Rizvi said Khalid had sent a letter to the PCB which contained some personal reasons behind his refusal to appear before the tribunal.

Tafazzul said if Khalid or his lawyer would not appear before the tribunal on June 29 then it had the power to announce unilateral decision.

He said it was not fair to demand that Justice Asghar had to resign from the Anti-corruption as it was not written in any code of conduct under which the proceeding was going on.

Moreover, hearing in the PSL spot-fixing case also involving Sharjeel Khan will take place on Friday.
