MANSEHRA: A man was killed for honour and two others were gunned down over a land dispute in Oghi area here on Sunday.

Police said that Mohammad Sher fired at Mohammad Naveed when he was working in fields in Jahangirabad village of Oghi.

Naveed sustained critical injuries in the firing. He succumbed to his injuries while being shifted to a hospital.

Police said that the deceased had married the sister of the suspect few years ago. Oghi police started raids for arrest of the suspect, who managed to flee.

In another incident in Dehro village, two people were killed and six seriously injured when two rival groups exchanged fire. Mohammad Anwar and his rival Mohammad Farman exchanged fire when the latter was cultivating a disputed piece of land.

Oghi police started investigation to arrest the suspects from both sides.

Also, Mohammad Jan was killed in a road accident in Safada village.

Meanwhile, local people blocked Oghi-Darband road to protest prolonged power outages in Shergar and its suburbs on Sunday.

The protesters chanted slogans against Pesco and blocked the road by burning tyres on it.

Speaking on occasion, PPP tehsil general secretary Anwar Saeed Khan said that people of Shergar and its suburbs were paying electricity bills regularly but Pesco was observing over 14-hour loadshedding daily.

“If prolonged and unscheduled loadshedding is not brought to an end, we would be left with no other option but to block this main artery for indefinite period,” he said.

The people of Naran have also been without electricity for the last one month.
