LAHORE: The second phase of the 456-acre Rahim Yar Khan Industrial Estate (RYKIE) would be completed soon and an independent grid station would be set up to facilitate investors, PIEDMC Chairman Rizwan Khalid Butt said on Friday.

Talking to a group of investors from Rahim Yar Khan, the Punjab Industrial Estates Development and Management Company (PIEDMC) said a consultancy firm has prepared feasibility report for approval of the concerned authorities.

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif inaugurated first phase of the estate in April 2016 where 30 per cent of industrial plots have been sold out till date, he added.

Mr Butt told the visiting delegation that PIEDMC would establish a technical and vocational training centre once 50pc colonisation takes place at the RYKIE.

It would be helpful in enhancing skills of industrial workers in the region, he added.

Expressing his satisfaction over the colonisation speed at the RYKIE, the PIEDMC chairman expressed hope that the Department of Environment Protection of the Punjab would launch a drive for shifting of factories from urban localities to the estate in district RYK.

A good number of ginning factories are operational within the residential areas and causing asthma problems in neighbourhoods and these must be shifted, he said.

The PIEDMC chairman also expressed satisfaction over the interest shown by of domestic and international investors in RYKIE.
