LAHORE, Aug 6: A man allegedly raped and murdered the mother-in-law of his sister in Raiwind City on Wednesday.

Police said Talib had married his sister off to a stepson of his relative, Najma. He used to visit Najma after the marriage and had allegedly been making advances, which she would always refuse.

The police said Talib visited the house again and detained the woman in a room. He allegedly raped her and when she tried to raise an alarm he strangled her with a towel.

Neighbours, however, rushed to the spot after hearing the screams and nabbed the accused. He was handed over to the police.

Meanwhile, a labourer allegedly beat to death his colleague in a factory in Manga Mandi.

Police said Raza and Irfan exchanged harsh words over a petty issue and then came to blows. Both of them suffered injuries. Ali died on way to hospital.
