LARKANA, Aug 6: A large number of villagers blocked the Indus Highway by staging a sit-in on it on Wednesday in protest against the SHO, Wagan police station, Sub-inspector Manzoor Ahmed Chandio, for injuring a villager.

They were demanding that action be taken against the SHO.

The SHO late Tuesday night went to the Paichoho village shouting at the villagers that you are sleeping while a policeman has been killed.

He picked a night watchman, Arbab Ali Shah, and took him to the highway where he opened fire. A bullet hit Arbab in the thigh. The SHO sent a message on the wireless saying that he had had an encounter with dacoits and he had arrested one of them called Arbab.

The DPO rushed to the area and preliminary inquiry showed that it was a concocted story and no encounter had taken place, sources said.
