ISLAMABAD, Aug 5: Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan said on Monday that he had submitted a requisition to the government to induct 100 civil judges to overcome the shortage of judges in the province.

Talking to newsmen at the Federal Judicial Academy after inaugurating an eight-week training course for civil judges, he said the dispensation of justice would be improved after the induction. He said judicial academies should be established at provincial level.

Replying to a question about the recent firing in Sialkot jail, he said there was no such situation in the North West Frontier Province and judges had been visiting the prisons to improve the system.

He said the province was benefiting from the access to justice programme and infrastructure in the courts had been improved, especially with the induction of computers.

He said that after the installation of computers at the Peshawar High Court and subordinate courts, there would be complete interaction between the courts of the province soon.

He said there were cordial relations between the bar and the bench in the North West Frontier Province.

About the need for fresh oath by the judges after the restoration of the 1973 Constitution, he said the matter was related to the Supreme Court chief justice.—APP
