Champions Trophy encounter: Pakistan concedes to India in one-sided contest

Title-holders India came out as the superior side against their arch-rivals, defeating Pakistan by 124 runs in a match marred by rain and sloppy fielding.
The match ended as Hasan Ali returned to the pavillion with no runs scored. Pakistan ended their innings at 164/9 after 33.4 overs with injured last man Wahab Riaz unable to bat as India won with 44 balls to spare.
India had previously piled up 319 for three in 48 overs after Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed won the toss, giving their opponents a revised target of 289 owing to the Duckworth–Lewis method.
Rohit Sharma top-scored with 91 and put on 136 for the first wicket with Shikhar Dhawan (68).
India captain Virat Kohli made 81 not out, sharing a quickfire third-wicket stand with Yuvraj Singh (53) as Pakistan paid a heavy price for dropping both batsmen.
India plundered 72 runs in their final four overs as Pakistan's attack wilted.
Pakistan skipper Sarfraz Ahmed won the toss and opted to bowl first.
India started the game slow with a run rate of just 4.84 in the first powerplay, which the ICC says is the lowest of any side during the tournament so far. Play was temporarily halted for rain 9.5 overs into the match.
Although the pressure for today's match is high, Sarfraz was confident Pakistans' batting has improved.
"It is a good pitch and won't change much. India-Pakistan is a pressure game, hopefully we play as a free game. Our batting is much better," he said.
In an interview yesterday, Sarfraz had said Pakistan will be "playing differently" and spectators would see some "out of the box things".
"We have definitely have a plan... you will see us doing some new things which have not been tried against India before," he said.
The team's fielding, however, leaves much to be desired, with commentators referring to it today as 'sloppy' on more than one occasion since the innings began.
The last time Pakistan defeated India in an ICC tournament was during the 2009 Champions Trophy at Centurion. Since then, India has won all six encounters.

Batting first, India would give around 350 as target, achievable only if Pakistan bat aggressively. Unfortunately, Pakistan tuk-tuk brigade, especially if they do not get out early, are incapable to get this target. Tuk-tuk players like Azhar, Shahzad, Babar, Hafeez and Shoaib together, at best could make 250 runs in 50 overs if they do not get out.
It is unfortunate that Pakistani selectors ignored good players for team. Anyhow, in playing team, batsmen who could make runs fast and have good average is only Sarfraz. Imad has good SR but reasonable average. Babar can make fast runs but take times to settle.
Player who can bat fast and also has good average is Fakhar Zaman, but Pakistani management is not playing him.
Worse would happen when Azhar, Shahzad, Babar, Hafeez and Shoaib would come early in batting order, and would eat balls, making target impossible to achieve. Miracles can happen, but seems Pakistan would lose, and people responsible would be selection and management.

@Common sense Well, I think India will make 300 easily. They are 172/1 at 32.4 overs. Thats an average of around 5.3 I think.
If Pakistan can restrict the rate at 6-7 for the next 17 overs, the score would be 280-290 odd runs which will give a fighting chance to the boys in green.
Anything above that and the blues will top greens for sure, methinks. Lets see what happens.

Shikhar Dhawan hitting a fultoss from Shadab straight
into the hands of the fielder. It's 136/1 in 25 overs.This is a perfect batting wicket and unlike India wicket conditions in England do not change abruptly during the match and with batsmen like Rahane, Yuvraj, Dhoni and Jadeja still to come one can easily expect India to pile up a total in excess of 330. Second spell of rain is expected, if this happens, then the number of overs in this ODI will be reduced

What an incompetency in selecting the best eleven for this match!The team has left the player who save the match from a humiliating defeat by Bangladesh only several days back probably on the ground of experience when most of the so called experience players are totally failure in their respective fields.The team management is so weak and defensive mentality that they have choosen Wahab only for his pace ignoring his recent past highly expensive and inacquirate bowling that is the reason of many defeat of recent past .He is so unfit that he could not finish his expensive spell today! For me due to over defensive and weak mentality and extremely lack of cricket wisdom by the Pakistan team management, the team defeated even before the game started today!

Actually, Pakistan have many players who would not be in team if selection had happened on merit. Hafeez, Shahzad, Azhar or Malik, none would have been in team if team was on merit. On the other hand, Amir has impressed few people on high post, else looking at his recent performance, he would be out of team too.

The team bowled Poorly, Their fielding was sloppy, Conceded 70 in last four overs, Wahab the old horse is loosing his steam fast and should be retired. In the batting except for Azhar Ahmed and Babar both started very cautiously and paid the prize. India is bowling well so the result is on the card already.

Pakistani Batsmen's negative mindset is enough for them to virtually lose the match after a mere 10 overs. They still seem to be living in the nineties when a team could play slow while keeping wickets in hand, and then accelerate in last 10 overs. Not only the modern cricket has become much more fast and competitive, Pak also does not have any power hitters to provide big scoring overs at will.

Remove Wahab Riaz, Amad Wasim, Ahmad Shahzad, Sarfraz and bring in Sharjeel, Fawad alam, Umar Akmal, Haris Sohail and Rahat Ali. You got to have power and guts to come forward and hit the ball. I know that cricket authorities must be doing their job to improve the level of cricket. One thing I would like to say is that why seniors like Azhar Ali or Hafeez are selected when they don't make the winning runs or play for winning.I know someone will say that they have performed before and have won the games. It is my observation that these two have never performed against a good team. When someone last 15-20 overs, they hold one end and guide the inning. Both Azhar and Hafeez perish when they are needed most. They never hold the inning or make the required run rate. My advise is that if you have to lose, lose with young one so that after losing 1-2 years, at least they can deliver for 5-10 years. These two batsmen are done. They should not be carried anymore as they are not prospects.

The Pakistan team of old is just not there. I wonder why they did not play Junaid Khan today. What a talent! Wahab Riaz just bowls fast and has very few good days. Amir and Junaid should have been their attack. Also, using a spinner in batsman-friendly conditions to Rohit Sharma in the second over, really? I fail to understand the tactics. The team really needs a revamp. Isn't the domestic circuit producing quality players? You can' just bring in 18-year-olds straight to Champions Trophy after a few good domestic performances. The PCB needs the services of greats like Wasim, Waqar, Miandad and technically supreme batsmen like Yousuf Youhana and Mohd. Yousuf. Anyway, good luck. In the era of Imran, Wasim, Waqar and even after that when India lost to Pakistan it hurt in the gut and that was not just the loss or the realization that Pakistani players had superior skills but rather the acknowledgement that our players barring few had inferior skills and mental toughness.

From an Indian: There is no need for Pak fans to be disheartened - you guys are handicapped by not having international cricket in your country for so many years. Plus, you're rebuilding after some legends have departed. May be time to clean house and let go of non-performers and bring in guys who can score at a rapid pace - the difference in the strike rates of the batsmen from the 2 teams tells the whole story. Keep at it and things will improve. It is only a game of cricket and there is no need to lose heart.

Sports is reflection of situation in a country, with current political environment how we can expect a better performance from our cricketer. If we want better results, we need to create an environment where test level cricket is played in the country. Mayur, our institutions are extremely weak and so is the cricketing infrastructure. If all the right decisions are taken today, it will take alteast 6-8 years to fix this.

PCB has to take a long hard look at the selection of the team. Ahmed Shezad, Wahab Riaz and Hafeez should never be in the team, at least not in the one day side. PCB should immediately replace all members of the selection committee. Perhaps, Misbah and Younus could be inducted along with another non-partisan member to select a team comprising of younger, deserving players who can perform much better then some of the players in our present team.

Pakistan was out played by India in every facet of the game.
The Indians played like Professionals and our players played like novices.
At times Pakistan's fielding was top notch, however dropped catches, looses matches.
There is one point that selectors and captain must NOT compromise on " Sloppy Fielding "
Any player falling short in running between wickets and poor fielding, should not be selected

Pakistan lost because of poor batting, bowling, and fielding. Terrible. 1) I don't understand why Sarfaz decided to field after winning the toss. You should field first after winning the toss if you have excellent wicket taking bowlers, which Pakistani team does not have at the moment. 2) Why was an unfit bowler, Wahab , Riaz selected and Junaid Khan ignored even though Junaid has bowled out Kholi at least three times? 3) Why was Fahim Ashraf not playing? On the cricket field I dont think Pakistan is India's arch rival any more. For Indian viewers, the charm of India-Pakistan cricket match has more or less gone. Since it was a Sunday, the TRPs would have been high, otherwise, an Australia-India match garners more interest and more viewers than India-Pakistan. The primary reason for this is the slip in the quality of the Pakistani sides. With Misbah and Younis gone, the outcome of the match does not come as a surprise to anyone.

I was hoping Sarfaraz will change batring order abit once India posted 300+. Sending in Hafeez over Shoaib does not make much sense anymore. Hafeez/Azhar/Shehzad all have strike rates of 75ish. I will rather keep Azher - atleast he helds one end and try to get someone with big shots on the other side. Coupd have experimented with Imad Wasim or anyone as opener. Once rate goes over 7 - Pak team cant catch up. Middle-late order is not good enough to pull games back from those situations.

Sarfraz had a plan but not plan b. First 2 overs of spin is fine. If the ball is not turning and no wickets then get the fast bowlers.
The fielding is worse than the 1990s. IPL has raised the levels of fielding to inhuman levels..infact India played below par in fielding. Pakistan batting never looked like they could chase the runs. Viraat yesterday was the day you needed kumble.

As an Indian fan I miss the Pakistani team from the 90s. They had this killer instinct- this drive to win no matter what. People like Miandad, Salim Malik, Wasim Akram, Waqar- they wanted to win. They were aggressive and put in a lot of effort in the game. The current generation of Pakistani players just don't have the confidence or that drive. The end result is that the India Pakistan games are boring one-side affairs. Sad.

Apt title . It was indeed a one sided match. As Rameez Rajah commented at the end of the match, Indian team was way ahead by miles. Pakistan , apart from poor batting , did basic things wrong - sloppy fielding, dropped catches, poor running between the wickets etc. Except for Azhar Ali and Shoaib Malik , no Pakistan batsmen showed any intent. Shoaib was unlucky to get out to a brilliant throw by Jadeja. At the end captain has to take the blame. When he was interviewed by Ian Bishop after the match, he could not speak coherently - the difference between the two captains was quite clear. One could communicate brilliantly , the other could not. A leader's major role is to communicate well with his team in order to be successful. No wonder Pakistan team is suffering.

Those who have produced their best should gracefully opt retirement. Riaz, Hafeez (and even S Malik) have contributed so much to world cricket, now it is very hard for them to repeat or surpass their past brilliant performances. Since they have already given their best, new options should be explored. Suppose all current Pakistani players are eligible & available for Team India, I doubt any one from Pakistani side will be selected in Indian team.

Indian team should not get complacent and repeat this show against Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. I reckon Indian team chances are bright, but its Cricket and you never know.

Total disappointment. Where is rivalry? Where are fiery spells, hot tempers, nail biting finishes? We miss 90s Pakistani team. Imran, Inzmam, Akram, Waqar, Saeed Anwar, Amir Sohail.... I even don't know names of today's Pakistani players apart from Amir, Riaz. Lots of work to do. Make Pakistan team great again. We Indians love to see two equal, strong teams fighting for supremacy. Yesterday's match was boring, wastage of time.

When a captain wins the toss and put opposition to bat, the message to their bowling unit is that he has the confidence to restrict the opposition and then chase the score. Indians as the world know are good players of spin. Worse, was Sarfraz’s “out of the box” strategy of bringing in spin second over when India looked perplexed after a super first over from Aamir. In essence Pakistan lost the match after the first over of Aamir…

One thing which is a little weird is that, Pakistan has too many ex-captains and captain in their side. Shoaib Malik, Azhar Ali, Sarfaraz, Mohammad Hafeez. This may impart too much neta-giri in the team. This team needs an overhaul. Give the younger guys a chance.

Don't usually watch cricket except for tournaments such as this and just shocking to see how Pakistan team has deteriorated over the years. Even Bangladesh seem more threatening now.
PCB with all its resources still cant set up quality grooming circuits in major cities of Pakistan. PSL doesn't seem to be producing any new talent either. Just old has-been's coming out retirement to make some extra cash.

Lets not be harsh on Pakistani Team. Its a bunch of young inexperienced players. The team looked out of match practice. They can not be compared with the old team with more formidable players like Javed, Yousuf, Wasim Akram, Misbah, etc who had totally different class. Plus point was Amir who is a class bowler. Wahab was out of form though consistently bowled at 140 plus speed. Your captain needs to be supported for better results in future. It was a one sided game. Pakistan was never in the game. Scoring 300 plus requires far better batting efforts. Hope this team will win remaining games and remain in contention.

When put into bat, Indians played slow but preserved wickets in the beginning. This is because in case of rain, DL method favors if you have wickets in hand. Then in the last four overs they clobbered 72 runs. India came onto the ground with a brilliant strategy to win. Pakistan came with unfit players 'hoping' to win.

I stopped following Cricket precisely for this reason. It's not about losing. But a lot of innocent cricket fans do not know what politics goes behind the scene in selection, etc. Look, Cricket is a game of rich people. It requires very expensive infrastructure. We should just stop playing cricket and either concentrate on other sports or use the same money for development or any other good purpose. Think how many hospitals could be built instead of paying these non-performing "celebrities", who embarrass us on International level every time. You cannot keep feeding mules and expect them to win horse races. Let us all accept that we neither have talent nor the Jigar to win.
Nothing to take way from India though. They are miles ahead of us. A rich country like theirs can afford rich games like Cricket.

@SG Rohit Sharma & Sikhar Dhawan are not the Sehwag / Afridi type player who can hit the ball from the first over. India has some good finisher like Yuvraj/ Dhoni / Pandya who can clear the boundary easily in last 10 overs . So openers can take their own time & build partnership. This has been India's formula for last 4-5 years .
And IPL has helped indian cricket ( in limited over format ) immensely . Look at the India's bench Dinesh Kartik, Sanju Samson, Risabh Pant , Manish Pandey , Sreyas Iyer , Sandeep Singh ....all are top class player.

i as an indian want to see pakistani team of the past. it is really sad to see the current state of this team. please pcb do something and have a major revamp.sarfaraz seems to be nice human being and talented cricketer. but right now he is in too much pressure. For pakistan to win against india there is only one mantra. ' put all your efforts with so much heart and determination that you stop to see that the opponent is india'. if you think about winning you will win. if you think about avoiding defeat ( that tendency especially comes when the team starts thinking too much about opponents and pressure of fans ) invariably you will lose. better luck next time pakistan.

Droping of Indian viewers against this match shows how Indians take this Pak team. They interested to watch matches against better competitive sides.
The match was only India vs Malik. But a brilliant fielding of Jadega ends it soon. I think any IPL team can defeat this Pak team. I am not blaming pak team but the selectors? Why they cant find talented guys?

Pakistan did not concede. It was India that dominated the match. The only department both teams were close to being compared is the fielding, even that was also not at par. Shoaib Malik's mad dash knowing that the ball is getting picked by Jadeja just shows how ill prepared and out of touch the Pakistan team is with reality. He was nicely getting into a Rhythm. I was very disappointed with that dismissal. If Pakistan had a chance to put up a show, it was going to be Azhar Ali and Malik stitching a long partnership. Now, Pakistan has to not only up the skill of its physical game, but also drastically change its mental game. Unless this happens, its safe to say that Pakistan can never ever beat India again in an ICC match.

Had Pakistan played responsibly and fielded well without dropping catches and batted with confidence Pakistan could have won the match. It was not impossible. It's a psycho game when India - Pakistan face- off. Sarfaraz is not in form, he should pay more attention to come back in form he should also improve his batting to be ranked in good batsman. Nowadays he looks disturbed.
What i have observed there is always bad luck with Pakistan when It's India before. For example, Azhar couldn't hit sixer well, Shoib Malik run out, Ahmad shahzad lbw and many more things.
Hope you do better next time. Practice, practice and practice will make you perfect and diminish inconsistency.

I traveled from Mumbai to Delhi in the afternoon afternoon. While going to and coming from air port from cab I saw all business going as usual on the streets of Mumbai and Delhi. People were discussing everyday things instead of Cricket. 10-15 years ago the roads used to go deserted on the day of Indo-Pak matches.

@SG Glad you pointed it out. None of the so called pakistani "analysts" have picked this strategy of Indians. This was brilliant strategy using DLS. Keep in mind Anil Kumble is one of very few people who understands DLS.
Wickets parameter is the most important in DLS.

You may bowl 150+ speed, but if the fitness levels are low, how can you sustain it? What good are these speeds when they had to give up bowling due to injuries?

Pakistan earlier famous for the enormous talent..and unpredictability. Now, I don't a single player who can able to turn the match single handedly and we all know or can predict, they will lose anyway, can only win against team like Afganisthan.
But as a avid cricket fan, we pray they transform themselves and give us the 90s tension and excitement.

If one make poor, irrational, illogical decisions right from the 2nd over then you do not call it "out of the box things".
What kind of Captain (who represent the whole Nation) says that the pressure is on the other team because we are No. 8 and can't go down further. Reality check, West Indies are out of the tournament, so the team can fall below No. 8. In fact, WI would have shown more heart then the performance from PAK team yesterday.

The main issue is fitness. Stop depending on Individual brilliance and what is needed in modern cricket is that everyone has skills but more importantly is an athlete. This needs lot of hard work. Up until 5 years back both India and Pakistan were poor in it but relied on individual brilliance to keep it up there. India clearly has moved on and it was all in display yesterday while Pakistan is stuck in the poor reflection on ancient times.

You win the toss and let the opponents to bat first and in the end expect your batsmen to play under pressure by chasing a big target. Hard Luck Pakistan ! I think we lost the wickets of Azhar Ali and Shoaib Malik because of Hafeez. He slows it down. Plays 5 dot balls and takes 1 run on the 6 ball, and it continues like that. Many people think he is quite selfish, as he is worried about his place in the team and nothing else. He should have sacrificed his wicket for Shoaib Malik. Hafeez should not be in the team, we must start playing the new youngsters now and groom them.
Hafeez has no place in the team, he can not play, nor can he run - history of his making players run out is there. Only thing he does by playing slow, is making other players take risks, and he gets the credit of being
having some runs, I am surprised at Inzamam for not making a fair decision, inspite of being a very religious person. Please take youngsters in the squad and make them play and not for free tour.

The problem with our team is that we don't have strong hitter of the ball. Imad wasim can't even hit a four so don't question him of hitting a six. Our players are still living in a dream, they need to build their physique by working out, practice hitting (baseball hitting) to build strong muscles and this way they will avoid injuries as well. Wahab needs a break, so please grant his wish and thank you. How come we didn't play a 4th fast bowler, we didn't need 2 spinners and 3 all rounders, for God's sake, what kind of captaincy was that. I bet our ladies cricket team can field better than our men. Enough said, boys in green wake up if you want to succeed, hit the gym, get fit, look strong and hit hard. It was hard to watch yesterdays game, you all look puzzled and didn't know your game plan. You guys need to ask yourself one question, why are you being criticize so much? If you answer this question i'm sure you all will perform better if and only if, you put your heart to it.

Initially Pakistani bowler really bowled well... after India was targetting to reach 340-360 , they restricted to 319 . is it not good thing.. if pakistan had got good batsman 319 was never impossible to chase...

You know what's the real problem?
It's the attitude of your past players and umpires who went about playing the game as if it was a war not to be lost. The result is that each player implodes under that. The current state of your cricket is a consequence of that. Indirectly because of the emotions and directly because they are deprived of proper international exposure due to political reasons.
However there was a glimmer of hope in the form of a cricketer I really admire "Younis Khan" a great cricketer and a gentleman, always smiling and reminding us it is only a sport.
Be sure this mans goodwill will benefit Pakistan in some positive way in future as we Hindus believe in Karma. Good brings in Good.

Can't help but would like to add this guy Umar Akmal comes in to bat thinks he is Rambo and by just swatting a few boundaries can win the match on his own. Modern cricket is much more than that. Just look at him trying to refuse singles in the beginning or middle of an over and playing only for a single in the last ball as if his partner is a dummy. This kind of act is only good for front benchers. A movie can be a hit only if it has a good script, direction, performance and technology throughout 2 and half hours.

A lot of people here are commenting that Pakistan has a weaker bowling unit. I do not think so. Given the conditions they had superior bowling resources available at their hand. In fact @one point they had scuffled India until 2 catches were dropped of Yuvi and Kohli. Here is my take on Pak's match against India 1)Bad team selection. Junaid Khan should have been played instead of the ever expensive Wahab Riaz. With two part time spinners in Malik and Hafeez they should have gone with only one spinner Shadab or Imad and instead played Ashraf/Fakar Zaman 2)Bad planning ..Under conducive bowling conditions with the new ball, they should have never opened with Imad specially when you know your opposition are strong players of spin. Assuming your Plan-A failed with Imad ... they should have shifted back to Hassan Ali after one or two overs, but instead persisted with him for 6 overs. So there was no Plan-B 3) Pathetic fielding: Catches win matches and you guys dropped two prolific batsmen.

In any match ; only 1 team wins. However in last 50+ years that I have been watching Pakistan team; this is probably the worst performance ever.The moment India scored 319 /adjusted to 324; the result was a forgone conclusion for those who have been watching Pakistan team for last 4-5 years.This mach was just a mirror shown to Pakistan team and is a serious wake up call for the cricket lovers of Pakistan to understand how far Pakistan team has fallen behind compared to top teams and it will serve no purpose in either blaming the strategy of the game or for that matter finding scapegoats be it the coach; captain,Wahab Riaz ... Ask any cricket lover or a connoisseur of the game who would tell you that current Pakistan team is very weak & even if right buttons are pressed here onward; it will take good 4/5 years for Pakistan to come up to standards from where they could compete with top world teams. Best of Luck to Pakistan and hope that they play India with much improved side in future.

Imran Khan is worried only about gap between pak and India, which is the wrong approach that created narrow views. Instead it's important to see where world cricket is heading in terms of standards and catch up.so many losses to pull down the ranking to bottom did not stir as much as a single loss to India?

I would love to see a MATURE coverage like how Dawn did in both India and Pakistan, so that people can enjoy the rivalry rather than getting aggressive, jingoistic and just being borderline maniacs. Though the match was pretty insipid, I missed Misbah and Afridi!

Being a Pakistani but a cricket fan, I have no shame in admitting that current Indian team is 1000% better than Pakistani team. There is no chance of a Pakistani win these days even if we play this Indian team 100 times. Having said that, it is not the lack of talent or anything but circumstances that Pakistani cricketers and the country finds itself. The main reasons for decline in cricket standards in pakistan are very obvious and any body can see that.
1. Pakistan has not been able to host any foreign team for almost 10 years now and therefore PCB is not able to generate any funds.
2. Due to lack of funds, there is very little being spent on domestic cricket and infrastructure and domestic first class cricket has suffered a lot.
3. Incompetent people have been appointed and are running the PCB for a long time now, who are only concerned about travelling abroad, enjoying perks, arranging T20 leagues abroad and so on.
As a result of above, Pakistani cricketers do not have any hope.

Am an indian and used to be a big fan of pak team. Ofcourse many have pointed out their disappointment in the comments. but I would like to highlight a few things. To rebuild a team you need a supporting environment. remember, when ganguly took over from sachina s captain, tendulakr totally supported him. when dravid took over, tendular and gangulay supported him. when dhoni tookover, all ganguly, dravid, sachin they supported him. there were a few tussles, but stil team was united. In this pak team, every outgoing captain blasts the past captain. even when india performed bad in overseas condition with the new team, sehwag, sachin, dravid, ganguly who were retired supported the team. But In Pakistan everyone jumps to criticize, rarely someone lends support. Remember, when dhoni left, he still supports the idnian test team on air, and even visited the last ind Australia match to cheer kohli and his past test team. You need that spirit.

Secondly, captain should show courage, and take the blame. It was clear that hafeez and shehzad were looking scared. In such a scenario captain shoul take the burden and come up the order. remember, dhoni coming up the order several times. And when there was no one to open in a seeming English test match, dravid (the captain) came to open. lead by example. even if u fail, other players will garner the courage.
I hope pak team sorts out this mess. Arthur is a good cach, but all players should be involved, Individual milestons don't carry any weight, unless team wins.

Pak selectors should study deeply why Indian team didn't face a gap when sceniors retiring. Do you people think if any Indian player retirement today leads a lack of performance of Indian team? Never why ? More talented players wating outside. Why u selectors and board can't find out and develop real talented guys. Remember class is permanent not one day show.
Modern cricket depend on entire team members performance. Whole team members should perform on one way or other. Nowadays pak team waiting for any one of player's outstanding performance, that only happening once in a bluemoon. Even school students can do such performance .

Pakistan bowlers did well except Wahab Riaz. Every other team scoring 300+ runs on these pitches. The problem is Pakistan batting and fielding. Pakistan can not win a game if improves this area. Captain can not do much if fielders keep dropping catches and batsman not deliver. It is a team sports

It looks small when we say lost by 124 runs... But if we would have had 50 overs both side then the margin would have been much more may be in the order of 170 or 180 runs.

Hats off to this Pak team and first 3 overs of Amir were superb! the ever so useless Sharma had really put India in ditch against some quality pace bowling. What i loved 1. Amir and Hasan pace and guile of Imad. Batting was never a strength for Pakistan and captain rightly gambled with bowling first. Gabbar aka Shikhar, Yuvi the Prince and King Kohli batted Pakistan out of game.Fielding did not help either

I think Pakistan should have bat first. I know our standing is not very pretty sight....but nonetheless we should have played well...dropped two key catches and not looking to improve our fielding as usual then we will come to our own defeat.
I believe when nation puts our cricketers on "pedal stone" and they reap the most financial benefits and fame then perhaps they should perform well.,,,
