English language does not show our intelligence

In our society, a common perception that most people have these days is that those who have command over the English language are perceived as intelligent. However, this is not true because intelligence cannot be measured in term of language skills.

Kids with good English language skills and having little knowledge are thought as brilliant and are given preference over those kids who have many other skills and abilities, but are not good in English.

They are thus are thought as weak and dull in comparison.

This is absolutely wrong and no one should judge others on their language skills. It is good to have language skills but it doesn’t mean that language is the only criterion to judge someone’s intelligence.

Child labour is wrong

This is regarding the article “Child labour is wrong” by Khidhr Ali Mir (YW, May 13). As I read the article, I felt so blessed to have everything at my disposal.

The thought of kids at brick kilns is depressing as these kids have no choice but to do this tough job which is actually not meant for them.

We should always be thankful and do our part in eradicating poverty from our country by donating money, clothes, books and whatever we can. The article was really good and opened my eyes to the harsh realities of the world we are living in.

The article “Child labour is wrong” by Khidhr Ali Mir was very well-written and I really felt bad for the kids who perform tough jobs in brick kilns, garment factories, motor mechanic shops, etc.

This is a sad fact that in our country there is hardly any law banning child labour, and if there is, nobody follows or implements them.

It is a request to the authorities to impose strict child labour laws in all the provinces of Pakistan.

Competition leads to success

This is regarding the story “Competition leads to success” by Shakeel Kassaki (YW, May 13). The story was written beautifully and carried a strong message.

Competition is the path to success but actually it is a kind of success in its own way.

When you participate in a competition, it is also an achievement, however, the most important thing is being confident when you compete. The more confident you are, the easier things will be for you.

So I would like to advice all the kids to be confident and have faith in your abilities.

Young World

Young World is an immense source of joy and learning for me.

I have been reading this magazine for many years now and love the way it presents various articles and stories to its readers.

Of all the sections, I like the “Story time”, “Quiz” and “Wonder crafts” the most.
