THE K-Electric management had assured the people that there would be no loadshedding or power failure during Sehar and Iftar timings. Unfortunately, the power utility did not keep its word.

A major breakdown occurred on the first Sehri on Sunday at 2.45am which lasted till 4.43 am in our locality. The power failure engulfed all of Block 17 and its adjoining Blocks in FB Area and many areas of Gulshan-i-Iqbal.

The management of K-Electric must be taken to task for the power failure exactly at Sehri time.

THE people of Sindh have received no respite from the long hours of electricity failure even during the holy month of Ramazan.

The holy month’s first Sehri saw an electricity breakdown that lasted more than two hours and hit F.B. Area, Gulshan-i-Iqbal and Gulistan Johar. Power went off just when families were getting ready for Sehri and was restored at the earliest after Fajar prayers. Many areas were without power till 11am.

The rise in temperature and the higher demand for electricity owing to Ramazan should have been anticipated by the power utility management. If the electricity supply is not better managed, a law-and-order situation may occur as citizens’ nerves are frayed with the increase in heat, ,and power failures will only add fuel to fire.
