LAHORE: A woman found unconscious at her home under mysterious circumstances in Shafiqabad died at the Mayo Hospital on Friday.

Police said Sania Adnan, 35, a mother of three, was found unconscious in her house near Amin Park by her in-laws and shifted to the hospital where she died after four-hour treatment.

The police shifted the body to the morgue for autopsy.

Investigating Officer Sarfraz Ahmad said initial investigation showed that the woman died after consuming poison. He said they were investigating either she was served poison by anyone or she had committed suicide. He said they had sent samples to the forensic science agency for test.

Quoting woman’s husband, the IO said the woman was suffering from some disease and had taken overdose of the medicine which resulted in her death. He said the postmortem report would reveal the exact cause of her death.

In another incident, a 19-year-old boy committed suicide after consuming poison in Shahdara.

The police said Ghulam Abbas of Lajpat Road had taken this extreme step as he was annoyed with his family over some financial issues.

The teenager was taken to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

The police shifted the body to the morgue for autopsy and later handed it over to the family after completing legal formalities.
