KARACHI: Nazimabad Gymkhana beat GMH Cricket Club by 9 wickets in the inaugural match of the Omar Associates Trophy Floodlit Cricket Tournament at Annu Bhai Park here on Friday.

Batting first, GMH Cricket Club slumped to 86 all out 18.1 overs with Wajid Khan and Zubair Dilawar scoring 19 each. Slow left-armer Imran Ali and Fouz captured three wicket each for only 2 runs and 3 runs, respectively while Tauqeer Malik got 2 wickets for 16 runs.

In reply, Nazimabad Gymkhana reached the target of 87 for the loss of just one wicket in 10.2 overs, Hamza Ghanchi played superbly for his 42 not out containing six boundaries and a six. Owais Rehmani (30 not out) also played a brisk knock with two fours and two sixes.

Earlier, chief guest Deputy Mayor Karachi Arshad Vorha inaugurated the tournament.

After that Osama Qadri and Asif Ali Khan presented a shield to Vohra on behalf of the tournament committee.
