NOWSHERA: A two-day youth carnival concluded here the other day as a large number of students of various educational institutions participated in different competitions.

The carnival was organised by the local administration in collaboration with the district government at the Government High School, Nowshera Cantonment.

Different stalls and workshops organised by the boys and girls students were also organised.

“It is for the first time in the history of Nowshera that girls participated in large numbers in the carnival, and won different prizes,” Farzana, a college student, said.

School and college students also participated in debate, painting, essay and photography competitions. Science and information technology workshops were also held.

The students showed great interest in career counseling workshops. They were informed about latest job trends at national and international level.

Different government departments, including health, Rescue 1122, agriculture, fisheries, traffic, social welfare and culture, had set up their stalls.

The first positions, both for boys and girls, were clinched by the students of Government Postgraduate College, Nowshera. However, Army Public School Akora Khattak students won most prizes at the school level.

Deputy commissioner Sikandir Zeeshan and district police officer distributed certificates among the successful candidates. They said that youth needed proper guidance and practical work to put them on right path.
