KARACHI: Aseefa Bhutto-Zardari on Tuesday launched the latest anti-polio campaign in the city’s Shah Faisal Colony neighbourhood.
She administered polio drops to children and distributed gifts among them.
She also spoke with mothers at the facility and inquired about the problems faced by them in their communities and promised to help them resolve issues such as lack of sanitation facilities and clean drinking water.
She requested the deputy commissioner of Korangi to look into the matter and address the problems.
The polio campaign in the city will continue with a target of approximately 2.3 million children under the age of five and cover all six districts and 188 union councils of the city.
Meanwhile, Karachi Commissioner Aijaz Khan visited different city areas and monitored the campaign, which remained peaceful on the opening day.
He said the number of sensitive union councils for polio incidence was decreasing continuously.
