KARACHI: Voice of small things, an exhibition of paintings created in oil and water colours by artist Abbasi Abdul Rasool, concluded at the Arts Council of Pakistan.

The two-day exhibition attracted sizeable a number of art lovers and contemporary artists as it was the first exhibition of its kind by the artist over the past three decades.

“I am an artist, simply an artist, and it is more than enough for me,” said a modest Rasool. “I am not in fight of identity wherein how much am well known among the contemporary artists, art lovers and friends.”

Executed in a simple technique with oil and water colours on canvas, the paintings depict a distinct oriental style, a unique blend of minimalist and impressionist art.

According to the artist, his art was based on his lifelong observations, impressions and practices that had been stored in his mind as an experience.

Dedicating chiefly to the pains and struggles of women, the artist painted canvas with hope in the age of persistent violence against the vulnerable.

The paintings serve as a pleasure to the sight of the beholder and provide plenty of food for thought.
