Two police officers shot dead in Karachi

Two police personnel were killed and one other was injured on Sunday in a targeted killing in Karachi's Bahadurabad area, police said.

The two officers were sitting in a police mobile while on duty at the Dawood Round-a-bout in Bahadurbad when unidentified assailants fired at them and fled the scene, Superintendent of Police (SP) Gulshan Ghulam Murtaza Bhutto said.

Three police officers received injuries in the incident and were taken to the hospital, police said. However, Sub-inspector Iftikhar and Head Constable Raja Younis succumbed to their injuries.

Head constable Shehzad remains in a critical condition and is being operated upon, police added.

Funeral prayers of the two officers were attended by the IGP and Sindh Rangers personnel.─DawnNews

Inspector General of Police (IGP) A.D. Khawaja, taking notice of the incident, ordered DIG East to submit a report immediately regarding the episode.

The funeral prayers of the two officers were offered Sunday afternoon at Police Headquarters in Garden House.

The prayers were attended by Khawaja and Sindh Rangers personnel.

Very unfortunate that law officers or police officers lose their life. A root cause analysis may show that for decades many criminals were protected by some politicians and those criminals have become much braver now, shooting anyone at will. Only way to control those criminals is to give them hard punishment, regardless of their party affiliations. Same thing for white collar criminals.
