30 candidates, including 11 women, of Pakistani origin are set to contest the upcoming British elections set to take place on June 8, BBC Urdu reported.

14 candidates of Pakistani origin will be contesting from the platform of Jeremy Corbyn's Labour party, while nine would be representing the Liberal Democrats, six from the Conservative party and one from the Scottish National Party.

The upcoming elections will see more than 3,000 candidates fight for 650 seats in the British parliament.

Most of the Pakistani-origin candidates are contesting from various constituencies within London.

Back in April, The House of Commons voted by 522 to 13 to hold a general election on June 8 — plunging Britain into political uncertainty just weeks before the start of negotiations on leaving the European Union.
