GHALANAI: At least two mortar shells and a missile fired by unidentified miscreants landed in the agency headquarters, Ghalanai, on the night between Tuesday and Wednesday.

Sources told Dawn that one mortar landed in the government college of management sciences, Ghalanai, and the other on the link road near Ghalanai Bazaar. The missile landed near the sports complex close to the Mohmand Rifles headquarters.

After the incident, the security forces resorted to firing in the air for about five to six minutes, which created fear among the locals. No loss of life or damage to property was reported.

An official of the local administration confirmed the incident and said that the security forces launched a search operation to trace the location from where the mortar shells and missile were fired.

Security was beefed up and checking on the exit and entry points to the agency was tightened.
