Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Spokesperson Naeemul Haque on Wednesday apologised to the prime minister's former adviser on foreign affairs, Tariq Fatemi, for an earlier tweet in which the former insinuated that Fatemi had not really been removed from his post.
Tariq Fatemi's portfolio as the PM's adviser on foreign affairs had been withdrawn in the wake of an inquiry into a story published by Dawn last year. It is as yet not clear what the charge against him had been in connection with the affair.
Talking to reporters in Islamabad, Haque, who is PTI Chairman Imran Khan's chief of staff, said his tweet was based on wrong information.
He apologised to the former adviser, taking note that that Fatemi is a "very senior diplomat".
Haque had tweeted a picture on Tuesday, saying: "Nawaz continues to deceive the nation. Tariq Fatemi accompanying him in China. So his being relieved of his duties was a lie. What a farce."
The PTI leader acknowledged that fellow lawmaker Shireen Mazari had also tweeted on the matter, and that, "Shah Mehmood Qureshi even raised the issue on the floor of the National Assembly."
Haque told reporters, with a smile on his face, that they were collectively misinformed.
The picture they had been outraged about had, in fact, been taken in the past.
The tweets were subsequently deleted from the PTI leaders' accounts.

Good that Naeem apologized but why not show a bit of maturity in the first place. What was so hurry to score point? Seems like you are same as Nawaz league or PPP. What if you were at important position in PTI government? THINK before you speak.

its not about aplogy. Its about internalisation of "mud slinging" in our political system. A mere aplogy cant break it. In the end, Mr. Fatemi lost nothing. But those who did are not even aware of it , as it appears to have become a second nature.

TYPICAL PTI nothing new and nothing will change they are at the best can accuse and abuse and for this they can go to any limit. The irony is that the issue was raised on floor of National Assembly by very senior leaders of PTI what a joke? PTI started at Minar-e-Pakistan with O NAWAZ, O Shahbaz around five years back and have not moved an inch forward from this position. For PTI Nawaz bashing is above anything even country. Mark my words this is not end they will do this again as they know nothing else

@Ali chaudhary would nawaz sharif and zardari apologise to the nation for taking turns in the last 40 yrs and the loss of billions of rupees to the national treasury. Atleast he has apologized and accepted he had wrong information.

Graceful apology. Fatemi was still in his official position for months because government couldn't make up it's mind on Dawn leaks so basically, it wouldn't have been such a surprise if Fatemi had stayed on.
