OKARA, Aug 2: Residents of several localities have been facing shortage of potable water for the past 15 days, as the tubewells and electric motors of the municipal administration are out of order.

The worst hit areas are grain market, old cattle mandi, fruit and vegetable market, Akbar Road, Shamsia Colony and Sabri Colony.

Reports reaching here on Saturday said the tubewells of the municipal administration had been lying out of order with the mechanics, and none of the relevant officials had taken interest so far in the repairs of the motors supplying water to many localities.

Hundreds of affected people have protested against what they called negligence of the municipal authorities, and demanded Tehsil Nazim Nadeem Abbas Rubera to take strict action against those eschewing responsibility.
