A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) officer assaulted three Airport Security Forces (ASF) officials at Karachi Airport on Thursday.

The incident, which was caught on video and widely circulated on social media, involved PIA Human Resource Officer Ruqaiyya Soomro hitting three ASF officers with her bare hands near the entrance to the domestic departure lounge.

In the video, Soomro could be heard shouting at the security officials and slapping them as a crowd looked on.

The PIA officer had reportedly tried to enter the departure lounge with an expired identification card, which prompted the ASF official to stop her. The incident quickly escalated when Soomro was not allowed to enter, upon which she started yelling at the security staff and physically assaulting the officials.

According to Soomro, the ASF guard who stopped her had put his hands on her "inappropriately".

A female ASF guard was called in to intervene, who shifted Soomro to another room.

The ASF guard involved in the incident has filed a first information report at the Airport Police Station against the PIA officer, stating the woman was "creating a hindrance for an official, stopping him from performing his duty."
