KARACHI: Lyari’s prominent football club Phoolpati won the final of the late Nazeer Ahmed Baloch All-Karachi soccer tournament at Gabool Park Stadium to lift the title.

As many as sixty-four teams participated in the tournament representing various areas of the city.

Phoolpati Club defeated Moosa Lashari Football Club, also of Lyari area, in the final which ended in a 2-2 draw. But Phoolpati won the trophy on penalty shooutout with a scoreline of 5-4.

Sindh Minister for Sports, Sardar Mohammad Bux Mahar, was the chief guest at the final. He emphasised that the activities of sports help cleanse the society of various ills and provide healthy recreation to the youngsters.

Mahar further said said that disseminating the message of peace and friendship through sports activities is the mission being pursued by the present government. He expressed delight at the presence of a large number of spectators at the match and added that it has proved that the people of Lyari love peace and detest militancy.

The Minister also lauded the role of the District Municipal Corporation (DMC) Karachi South, for sponsoring the sports activities in its jurisdiction. “In this regard, the efforts of the Chairman DMC South Malik Fayyaz, are appreciable,” further pointed out.

MNA Shahjehan Baloch, chairman DMC South Malik Fayyaz, PPP Karachi South president, Khalil Hoot, Nadia Gabol were also present on the occasion.
