HYDERABAD, Aug 1: Scores of cricket fans on Friday held demonstration outside Press Club demanding chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Tauqir Zia to remove former Test cricketer Azeem Hafeez from the offices of selector and coach of regional cricket academy.

The demonstrators demanded inquiry into the matter of exclusion of Mohammed Shafiq Qureshi former captain of Hyderabad district under-19 cricket team from regional cricket academy despite the fact that he had taken five weeks training of it.

They told newsmen that Shafiq was selected by Shoaib Mohammed national selector and Naveed Anjum also former Test cricketer for Hyderabad Regional Academy but after selection the coach of RCA and his deputy Hafeez Rehman demanded documents which had already been submitted to the regional academy coach. He was expelled from the team on pretext of being over age.

The same boy had played in national under-19 championship agaisnt Mirpurkhas and Badin and selector of the team was Hafeez Rehman representing PCB.

They said that they had informed of the fact to Colonel Mohammed Pervez administrator of all regional academies in Pakistan but despite his instuctions Azeem played havoc with the career of youngster.—PPI
