K-Electric feted for winning departmental event

KARACHI: K-Electric, who won the 21st edition of the Hinopak Trophy KCCA Inter-departmental Cricket League 2016-17, were feted with prize money and the trophy at the well-attended function held at the Dareecha Hall Arena, Karsaz, here the other day.

Chief guest Naushad Riaz, the senior manager of Hinopak Motors, and KCCA president and PCB governing board member Prof Ejaz Ahmed Faruqi gave away the winners’ trophy and a cheque of Rs100,000 to K-Electric skipper Javed Mansoor and the runners-up trophy plus Rs50,000 to Pakistan Navy captain Owais Ahmed Rehmani Captain of Pakistan

Among individual prizes, Rs5,000 apiece were presented to Javed Mansoor and Faraz Ahmed for outstanding performances in the first semi-final and to Navy’s Abdul Latif Junejo (second semi-final).

The best batsman award went to Bahadur Ali (517 runs), the best bowler Faisal Tahir (16 wickets for 299 runs), the man-of-the-tournament Shiraz Ali (251 runs and 13 wickets). Umpires Aziz-ur-Rehman and Aaley Haider along with scorer Salman Hussain received R.3,000 each.

In a brief speech, Naushad Riaz said Hinopak Motors has played a big role in promoting inter-departmental cricket competitions in the city and would continue to sponsor the tournament in the years to follow.

He lauded the KCCA tournament committee and its chairman Mohammad Touseef Siddiqui for staging the Hinopak tournaments during the past 21 years with credibility.

Prof Faruqi paid rich tribute to the management of Hinopak Motors for regularly sponsoring the annual event. Touseef Siddiqui presented the brief report of the competition. Present on this occasion were KCCA tournament secretary Jamil Ahmed, joint secretary M. Akram, Zafar Ahmed, Shahzad Alam, Hinopak sports and recreation club secretary Salman Abdul Wahab, Saleem Baloch, Major (retired) Mahmood Riaz Leghari and Mujtaba Hussain.
