KOHAT: Police here on Wednesday registered a case against a cleric for molesting a child at a seminary in Parshai village in the jurisdiction of Gumbat police station.

A statement issued by the office of district police officer said that father of the victim child reported to the local police that his eight-year-old son had been molested by Hafiz Azizur Rehman.

It said that the victim was complaining of pain and was taken to the Women and Children Hospital, Kohat, for a check-up. The doctors confirmed that the child had had been molested after which a case was filed against the cleric. Police have started raids to arrest him.

WEAPONS SEIZED: The police seized 15 pistols being smuggled from the tribal area to Punjab and arrested an alleged smuggler on Indus Highway on Wednesday.

DSP Sadder Zahir Shah told mediapersons that they stopped a coaster coming from Darra Adamkhel near the Kohat tunnel and during routine checking recovered 15 locally-made pistols and 900 cartridges from a passenger identified as Hamayun Khan of Charsadda. A case has been registered against him.

Similarly, a team of the Mohammad Riaz Shaheed police station arrested Taimoor Khan, Zaidur Rehman and Imran for possessing three Kalashnikovs and 12 chargers. A case has been registered against them.
