HYDERABAD: A large number of people belonging to the Marri tribe staged a demonstration outside the press club on Wednesday in protest against ‘enforced disappearance’ of Ghulam Qadir Marri, a close aide of Pakistan Peoples Party co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, and demanded his immediate release.

Ismail Khan Marri, brother of Ghulam Qadir Marri, Mohammad Ramzan Marri and PPP leaders, who led the protest, said that Marri was a patriotic person and his tribe had always supported Pakistan army in its fight against ‘rebels’.

They said that Marri was suffering from multiple diseases including cancer, blood pressure and diabetes and he needed immediate treatment. If he faced any case, he must be produced in court, they said and warned that they would widen the protest if he was not produced in court immediately. They appealed to the Supreme Court, Sindh High Court and human rights organisations to play their role in safe recovery of Marri.
